Stoke City confirm departure of loan defender

Stoke City have confirmed on their official club website that loaned in centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers will be leaving the club in the January transfer window, returning to parent club Spurs on January 2nd.

Prior to Christmas, we covered reports here on The72 stating that Spurs centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers could be recalled from his loan spell from loan club Stoke City amid speculation of a permanent move away from the club.

And now, Stoke City have confirmed on their official club website that Carter-Vickers will be leaving the club in the January transfer window, returning to Spurs on January 2nd. A club statement placed on record the Potters’ thanks to Carter-Vickers for his efforts during his time with the club, saying:

“Tottenham Hotspur are to recall Cameron Carter Vickers from his loan spell with Stoke City on January 2. The US international defender made 15 appearances for the Potters, including 14 starts, after moving to the bet365 Stadium in August.

“The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Cameron for his efforts and wish him every success for the future.”

Spurs are reportedly willing to listen to offers for Carter-Vickers as Jose Mourinho looks to cut down and put his own mark on the Premier League side’s squad. It is said that £4 million will be enough for Spurs to allow the American defender to leave the club in the upcoming January transfer window, but there are yet to be any teams revealed to be chasing Carter-Vickers as it stands.
