Swansea City lodge enquiry for Liverpool midfielder

Swansea City have enquired about the availability of Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones.

The Championship are interested in loaning the youngster in the upcoming January transfer window, according to a report by Wales Online.

Jones, who is 18 years-old, is highly-rated by the Champions of Europe but could be loaned out by Jurgen Klopp this winter to gain some first team experience.

Swansea are also looking to sign young Reds’ striker Rhian Brewster with Steve Cooper eager to bolster his squad next month. The Welsh side are currently 10th in the league and are a single point outside the Play-Offs positions.

They want Jones to add some more energy and options into their midfield department going into the second-half of the campaign.

The Liverpool-born man started his career with his boyhood club of whom he joined at under-nine level. He rose up through the ranks at Anfield and has been a key player for their youth sides, as well as playing for England from U16 to U19 level.

Jones made his senior debut for the Reds in an FA Cup tie against Wolves in January and has since played in Carabao Cup games since then against MK Dons and Arsenal.

Klopp then handed him his Premier League debut against AFC Bournemouth earlier this month.

Jones is highly thought of at Liverpool and his first loan move away is crucial to his development. Can Swansea bring him to the Liberty Stadium in January?
