Former Aston Villa star makes bold claim about Leeds United and West Brom

Former Aston Villa star Lee Hendrie has made the bold claim that he believes Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion are ‘certainties to go up’ this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Hendrie explained that he thinks Leeds won’t fall away and he can’t see beyond the current top two for automatic promotion this campaign.

Leeds are 11 points clear of third place with West Brom 10 points clear with a game in hand on closest rivals Fulham. The Whites have won seven successive games whilst the Baggies have won six on the spin to give them a real cushion in the race for promotion.

Both sides failed in their quest for promotion last season with Leeds losing to Derby County in the play-off semi finals and West Brom losing out to local rivals Aston Villa at the same stage.

Hendrie gave his view and said: “Everyone says Leeds are going to fall away, I don’t see that. They’ll have learned from last season and I think the top two at the moment are absolutely nailed to go up.”

The Championship really is about consistency and putting ‘a run together’ and Leeds and West Brom have done this superbly. Leeds have a fantastic defence and West Brom’s lethal attack has seen them both pull away at the top and look head and shoulders above the rest of the division.

Managers Marcelo Bielsa and Slaven Bilic appear to have masterminded their teams this year and both look more than capable of securing promotion at the earliest opportunity even at this stage of the season.
