West Brom star man insists ‘there will be no complacency’

West Bromwich Albion winger Matt Phillips has insisted there ‘will be no complacency’ despite their impressive start to the season according to the Express & Star.

Albion have enjoyed a fine recent run that has seen them hit the lofty heights of top of the Championship table and are now ten points clear of third placed Fulham going into the busy Christmas period.

Phillips has been instrumental for the Baggies this campaign and is the current top scorer with seven goals but despite their fantastic form he has insisted that they will keep pushing.

“We are playing well, but throughout the week we put in the work that’s needed in order to be able to play well,” the winger said. “And we are putting what we are doing in training into action.”

“Now we just have to keep going and keep our foot on the accelerator. In training every day, the players keep pushing one another. The manager is demanding, the boys are demanding of each other. We will keep going. We know we haven’t achieved anything yet.”

Phillips also praised the ever impressive Pereira claiming he is ‘a joy to play with’.

“He Pereira is unbelievable,” the former QPR man continued. “I think if you look across the team everyone is comfortable on the ball.”

“But not only does he create chances he works hard for the team as well. He has that ability to find you. He is a special talent and everyone is enjoying working with him.”

There is no doubting West Brom’s quality and if their form continues it is hard to see anyone stopping them in the race for automatic promotion. The likes of Phillips, Diangana, Pereira and Robson-Kanu are looking imperious and this can only bode well for the rest of the season.
