Leeds United face another injury blow as midfielder ruled out

Leeds United face another injury blow as midfielder Jamie Shackleton has been ruled out for ‘two or three weeks’ by manager Marco Bielsa.

According to Leeds Live, Bielsa confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Shackleton has suffered an injury setback and won’t be involved for a few weeks.

Shackleton has endured a frustrating campaign with injury with the 19-year-old having featured fairly regularly during the opening weeks of the campaign.

However, since their victory over West Bromwich Albion in early October, Shackleton has only featured once but he was expected to be able to play regularly over the hectic Christmas schedule.

With Huddersfield Town next on the fixture list for the Whites, Bielsa has said that Shackleton will once again miss a significant period of the season.

“The injury of Shackleton is an injury of about two or three weeks recovery and he is in this process of recovery,” he said. “He had a muscular injury and we wish he recovers fast,” he continued.

This is certainly a blow for Leeds as they will also be missing Adam Forshaw through injury and Kalvin Phillips through suspension for their upcoming game against the Terriers.

Shackleton has been a consistent performer when he has been in the team and the teenager will once again be left frustrated at having to remain on the treatment table.

Bielsa already has a selection headache with key man Phillips having to miss the game and this latest setback with Shackleton will do nothing to help the decisions he has to make.
