Leeds United boss refuses to confirm on-loan striker involvement

Leeds United boss Marco Bielsa has been discussing the size of the task they face when his side meet Arsenal in the Emirates FA Cup third round but has refused to confirm if on-loan striker Eddie Nketiah will be involved.

As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Bielsa has claimed he is looking forward to seeing how his side match up against the Gunners.

Despite Arsenal’s current poor form and with the sacking of previous boss Unai Emery to contend with, Bielsa insists they are still a formidable force.

“It’s one of the best teams in England,” said Bielsa. And of course to compete with them – we are proud of this – and also to measure our style.”

The Whites are currently going well in the Championship and are second in the table, just two points behind league leaders West Bromwich Albion and the Argentine boss has recently been boosted by the return of Nketiah to training.

However, despite Nketiah working his way back to full fitness, Bielsa has ruled out confirming whether or not his on-loan striker will feature against his parent club in January.

When asked if Nketiah would be able to play against the Gunners in January, Bielsa said: “Nobody can say one month before what is going to happen.”

Patrick Bamford is currently the preferred striker in the lone role upfront and has started every single one of Leeds’ Championship games so far this campaign despite calls from some supporters to give Nketiah a chance.

The 20-year-old has impressed when been introduced and Bielsa has repeatedly praised his striker but only time will tell whether his form from the bench will allow him to be given a chance from the start.
