Lee Bowyer provides injury update on six Charlton Atheltic players

Speaking to News Shopper, Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer has provided an update on the fitness of Jonny Williams, Tomer Hemed, Beram Kayal, Josh Cullen, Jason Pearce and Jake Forster-Caskey.

Charlton Athletic’s squad has been hit by a number of injuries over the course of the past few months, knocking them off their stride somewhat after a strong start to the Championship season. Now, heading into the Christmas period, the Addicks will be hoping to get as many players back fit as they ehad into a busy run of games.

Bowyer has provided an update on the fitness of Jonny Williams, Tomer Hemed, Beram Kayal, Josh Cullen, Jason Pearce and Jake Forster-Caskey, saying:

“Jonny we are hopeful he’ll be back in and around the squad next week. He’s outside running but not ready to come back just yet but hopefully, he’ll be back for Hull (Friday 13th).

“Tomer, he’s got a slight groin strain, he came back and came off the bench and broke down that’s why he’s been out. Now he’s outside again running trying to get his fitness up before he comes back to us because the intensity is high in training.

“Kayal is back at (parent club) Brighton getting treatment there. Last international break he got injured, he’s had an injection and hopefully he’s not too long out.

“Josh will be out weeks and weeks, he won’t be back before Christmas.

“He’s good. Jason played Saturday and then Tuesday, he played 90 minutes in both games. We all know he puts his body on the line and gives everything all game, if we played him last Saturday there was a chance he’d get injured. He did nothing wrong we were just trying to prevent another injury.”

Bowyer also provided an update on Jake Forster-Caskey, saying that he is expected to be out for a good few weeks with a hamstring injury.
