Leeds United and Arsenal fans react to third round FA Cup draw

Leeds have enjoyed a few instances of the ‘big time’ since their relegation from the Premier League in 2004, but none of which in the top-flight itself. The FA cup has provided a platform on which the Whites have been able to showcase themselves at the highest level against some of the biggest clubs in the country.

Perhaps the most high-profile example of this would be Leeds’ victory over arch-rivals Manchester United back in January 2010 at Old Trafford, a tie which saw Leeds, then a League One outfit, run out with a convincing 0-1 third round victory over the Red Devils following a nineteenth minute goal from Jermaine Beckford.

Also, in January 2010, in the fourth round fixture of the same competition, Leeds travelled to White Hart Lane, another fixture where Leeds United performed above the standard they played on a weekly basis and earned themselves 2-2 draw thanks to a last minute penalty from that man again, Jermaine Beckford, but the fourth round was their last in that particular competition.

They also had a third round tie against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in January 2011, where they gained a draw thanks to a Robert Snodgrass penalty but were ultimately beaten in the replay at Elland Road in a game where Bradley Johnson scored an absolutely stunning goal which at least produced something for the Whites fans to celebrate on the night.

This season, Leeds have again been drawn against Arsenal, away, in the FA cup third round, with the tie due to be undertaken at the beginning of January, here is how both sets of supporters have reacted to the draw…
