Charlton Athletic to be boosted by return of star man vs Middlesbrough

Speaking to the South London Press, Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has confirmed that the Addicks are set to be boosted by the return of star striker Lyke Taylor against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

Charlton Atheltic have been without Lyle Taylor for over 10 matches now, having suffered a ligament injust while on international duty with Montserrat. In his absence, summer signing Macauley Bonne has come into the fold and lessened the blow of Taylor’s absence by scoring six goals in 13 games for the club.

However, with Taylor set to travel to Middlesbrough with the squad on Tuesday night, competition for Bonne will step up and the two will either battle it out to start for Lee Bowyer’s side or play alongside each other.

Speaking prior to the upcoming game on Tuesday night, Bowyer confirmed that Taylor will be in full training prior to the match and is set to be involved at the Riverside. He said:

“Jonny [Williams] may be back training next week, but Lyle for sure [could be involved at Middlesbrough]. He’s down to train with us Thursday and Friday. He was outside today kicking balls again and he was fine. Hopefully, we can get the next few days and then he will be travelling to Middlesbrough.”

Charlton have been rocked by an injury crisis over the course of the past few weeks and with Taylor returning to action, it’ll be one more name off the injury list as they look to maintain a decent league position heading into the new year.
