Leeds United striker purchase to benefit Bristol City loan chase

Leeds United supremo Marcelo Bielsa has already shown that he is going to play the loyalty card in keeping Patrick Bamford as his #1 striker.

Bamford has just emerged from a 10-game barren streak to his two goals (one assist) in his last three games. This brace of welcome goals puts the former Chelsea and Middlesbrough striker on six for the season, a season with 28 games still to play.

It has also meant that United have yet to start Arsenal striking prospect Eddie Nketiah, a player that the Whites fought long and hard to bring to Elland Road. As it stands, the striker starlet has three goals (one assist) in 10 appearances for the Whites in just 262 minutes. His prowess in front of goal has prompted many Leeds fans to question why he’s being underused.

It has also led to many fans pondering the very real prospect that Nketiah could be recalled by Arsenal with a view to a different loan deal with another club. Bristol City could very well be a destination that Arsenal could choose, what with the level of interest that the Robins showed in Nketiah in the battle with Leeds to land him.

The Bristol Live website say that Bristol City’s chase could receive a “potential boost” in another respect with the Whites having supposedly landed Burnley striker Matej Vydra on a £7million January deal. This news came initially via Italian source Mondo Udinese, has been commented on by various sources and was reported here by The72.

Bristol Live say that the Robins “have been keeping tas on the 20-year-old’s situation should the opportunity arise to sign him in January” before going on to say that this “situation could soon be on the horizon” what with Leeds ‘landing’ Vydra.

Only time will tell how this one is going to pan out – both from a Leeds buying Vydra viewpoint and a recall of Nketiah by Arsenal.
