Newcastle United cool interest in £20 million rated Hull City starlet

Newcastle United have cooled their interest in Hull City winger Jarrod Bowen.

The Premier League side have been linked with the 22-year-old but are likely to look elsewhere this winter, according to a report by the Shields Gazette.

Steve Bruce, who knows Bowen from his time at Hull, is believed to be targeting central midfielders this January and may back away from a move for the Tigers’ £20 million rated star.

Bowen has scored 12 goals in all competitions already this season, building on the 37 goals he scored over the previous two seasons in the Championship combined.

Eyebrows were raised when Hull managed to keep hold of him over the summer, but it is baffling how no team in the top flight hasn’t taken a chance on him.

Hull boss Grant McCann has commented Bowen’s future last week, as per a report by Hull Live: “We would love him to sign a new deal but we understand where he is at. He has got a year and a half left, it’s completely down to Jarrod and his representatives but I think he is focused on his football. That is the most important thing.”

“I don’t think anything can swerve him away from what he does on an everyday level really and leading into a game. Jarrod knows that will be sorted out between his representatives and the football club, me and him can concentrate on the football.”
