Former Leeds United midfielder urges club to make additions in January

Former Leeds United midfielder Michael Brown has urged the Whites to bring some fresh additions in January to ensure they don’t fall short once more in the race for promotion.

As reported by Leeds Live, Brown believes that his former club could find themselves light in attack especially if on-loan striker Eddie Nketiah returns to parent club Arsenal in January as is being speculated.

The Whites went top of the Championship table as they beat Reading 1-0 at the Madjeski Stadium on Tuesday evening with title rivals West Bromwich Albion playing tonight against Bristol City at the Hawthorns.

Bielsa’s side are on course to once again challenge for a return to the Premier League having narrowly missed out last season, losing to Derby County in the play-off semi finals.

However, their former midfielder thinks they need to make reinforcements and back Bielsa in the January transfer window. “Last season in the transfer window, they didn’t actually strengthen,” Brown told Sky Sports.

“I think at that point, and you’re talking about at the top end of the pitch, who can help Patrick Bamford? They’ve brought in Eddie Nketiah who’s hardly played, so will he be still there?”

“They do need a little bit of help in a couple of areas. It gives you that buzz when somebody comes in and raises everybody. They need to try and help Marcelo Bielsa with a couple of signings in the window, and I’m sure that would see them over the line.”

It has been a long time since Leeds have plied their trade in the top division and they will be desperate to achieve their ultimate ambition of returning to the Premier League.
