Preston interested in taking Liverpool goalkeeper on loan in January

According to Sky Sports, Preston North End are interested in taking Liverpool ‘keeper Caoimhin Kelleher on loan in January.

The Reds are willing to let Kelleher leave on loan this summer, and it is believed Preston are leading the chase for the 21-year old Irishman.

The youngster has been a regular for the Republic of Ireland under-21s side, and has played in both rounds of the Carabao Cup for Liverpool so far this season, including the penalty shoot out win against Arsenal at Anfield, where Kelleher saved from Dani Ceballos’ spot kick.

Declan Rudd is the Lilywhites’ first choice at the moment, but new signing Connor Ripley has also featured three times in the Carabao Cup too.

There is no guarantee Kelleher will be given playing time at Deepdale, but their interest suggests he would certainly play a part in their promotion push this campaign.

The Liverpool goalie joined in the summer from Irish side Ringmahon Rangers, who play their football in the Munster Senior League; and he has certainly made the step up well from semi-professional to playing Arsenal and MK Dons in the Carabao Cup, so the next step could certainly be turning out for a side in the second tier.

The same report from Sky Sports claim that Liverpool are also willing to allow highly sought after striker Rhian Brewster on loan, with a whole host of clubs interested. The forward won the under-17s World Cup with England in recent years and Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Swansea are all keen.
