Leeds United interested in versatile midfielder along with a host of European giants

Leeds United are expressing an interest in tenacious midfielder Nahitan Nandez from Cagliari according to a report by Calciomercato News.

Nandez has been with the Italian side since the summer of this year when he signed for €18million (£15.3m) from Boca Juniors.

The 23-year-old Uruguayan has been in great form and is now considered to be a vital member of the Cagliari squad although he has previously been quoted as saying he would love to play under Leeds boss Marco Bielsa.

The Whites were linked with a transfer for Nandez before his move to the Serie A club but it is now thought that they may try their luck once more for the versatile midfielder.

Nandez has made 12 appearances in the Italian top-flight since his summer switch and has even featured at right-back such is his versatility.

However, it would provide an almighty challenge for Leeds to be able to capture the player with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Napoli, AS Roma and a host of Spanish clubs also eyeing a swoop for the 23-year-old.

Hull City are another club interested and it is almost certain that with a valuation of around €36million (£30.7m) to secure his services, that Leeds would need to win promotion in order to afford the fee for someone of Nandez’s calibre.

Nandez has made 31 appearances for Uruguay at international level and also starred at the 2018 FIFA World Cup as he made five appearances for the national side and was a vital member of the squad.

The capture of Nandez would undoubtedly be a huge coup for Marco Bielsa’s side but one which would almost certainly depend on whether they are able to win promotion to the Premier League or not.
