Leeds United midfielder identifies ‘biggest threat’ in promotion race

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has identified West Bromwich Albion as their ‘biggest threat’ in the Championship promotion race according to an interview with Polsat Sport.

The Whites and the Baggies are both going strong in the league so far with Leeds occupying third place whilst West Brom are the leaders at the top of the table.

Albion have lost just one game so far this campaign in what was a 1-0 reverse to Leeds at Elland Road back in October. Whereas Leeds have lost just three games and have the best defensive record in the division.

Both sides appear to have opposite underlying issues with West Brom perhaps having conceded more goals than they would have liked with two goals conceded in each of their last five home game.

Whereas Leeds have scored just 21 goals in their 16 games which is amongst the lowest total compared with the rest of the teams in the top half of the table.

Klich believes that Slaven Bilic’s side will take some beating and are looking a real force this season. “West Bromwich Albion seems to be the best team at the moment. They lost one of nine games, just against us. The season will be long, we will see.”

However, despite both clubs looking to be firmly in the race for promotion, Klich knows that with only a small points gap between the teams in the league, nothing is certain.

“The league shows that it will be harder than last season. There’s a very large pressure. I talked to Krystian Bielik from Derby County. They are in sixteenth place, and have only seven points to sixth, play-offs. Anyone can lose points to anyone.”

The Championship season is always a long, hard slog and this season is sure to go right down to the wire as teams push for promotion to the Premier League.
