Blackburn Rovers unsure about future of young Manchester City trialist

Blackburn Rovers Under-23s manager Billy Barr has said he is unsure whether or not young Manchester City defender Timi Sobowale will be coming back to the club after his trial period with the Championship side.

Manchester City’s young defender Timi Sobowale has been on trial with Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers for the past two weeks, coming in to feature for Billy Barr’s Under-23s side amid a number of injuries to some of the club’s young defenders, including Joe Grayson, Charley Doyle and Louis Annesley.

But now, Sobowale has reported to international duty with the Republic of Ireland’s Under-19s. Now, with his trial period with Blackburn Rovers coming to an end, it seems the time has come for a decision to be made regarding his future, and whether or not he will be offered a deal by Blackburn or return to Manchester City.

And Rovers’ Under-23s boss has revealed that he is unsure of whether or not the youngster will be coming back to Blackburn or heading back to the Premier League side. Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, he said:

“We only had a certain amount of time with Timi. He’s now on international duty and I’m not really sure whether he’ll be coming back to us or returning to Manchester City.”

Sobowale has been with the Manchester City youth academy for over a year now, making the move from Irish side Villa FC. Since joining, he has played 18 times for the club’s Under-18s. The 17-year-old has represented the Republic of Ireland eight times at Under-17 level, also earning a call-up to their Under-18s and Under-19s sides.
