Barnsley caretaker boss wants managerial situation sorted

Barnsley caretaker boss Adam Murray wants the managerial situation at Oakwell sorted as soon as possible.

The Tykes have been in the hunt for a permanent replacement for Daniel Stendel since 8th October.

Murray has taken the games since then and remains one of the favourites for the full-time job.

The likes of Neil Redfearn, Jan Siewert and Jens Keller have all also been linked with post over the past month and remain in the running.

However, a new name of Gehard Struber has emerged as the new bookies favourite. He is currently the manager of Austrian side Wolfsberger having previously managed FC Liefering.

The 42-year-old has also coached at Red Bull Salzburg in the past and has appeared out of nowhere and into contention for Barnsley.

The Tykes’ caretaker Murray said last week, as per a report by the Sheffield Star: “We will see where the international break takes us, hopefully there is a bit more clarity from that. It needs sorting as quick as possible as far as I am concerned.”

“More for the players than anyone else, they need to know what is happening, they need to know where they stand and I think for the position we are in now everyone needs clarity so we can put a plan in place with a little bit more of a long-term view in terms of where we go with things.”

Barnsley are bottom of the Championship and need a permanent manager in place as soon as possible to boost their survival chances.
