Leeds United legend shares concerns ahead of Blackburn Rovers game

Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has said that he is concerned about the high number of players that the club currently have injured, and that he feels they are short when it comes to attacking options.

Speaking to Leeds United TV (via Inside Futbol), the former Leeds man is worried that as Christmas approaches and the fixtures come thicker and faster, the Elland Road club will struggle due to players consistently picking up injuries.

The club currently have just two first team strikers in the form of Patrick Bamford and on-loan Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, but the latter is currently out with an injury sustained in training and is unlikely to return until at least the end of this month.

As well as this, Patrick Bamford has not found the back of the net since August, and Leeds have had to look elsewhere for their goals in recent weeks.

As quoted by Inside Futbol, this is something that concerns Gray.

He said: “We’ve still got this backlog of injuries. You want that squad fit. Even last week, just before the Queens Park Rangers game the centre-forward pulls out.”

“So we are just a little bit short, up there. But to score two goals at home against QPR for us was good.”

Leeds United host Blackburn Rovers this weekend looking to keep in touching distance with early pace setters West Bromwich Albion.

The Whites know it will not be an easy game. Their opponents defeated promotion chasing Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.
