Leeds United boss set to turn to teenage goalkeeper should Casilla receive lengthy ban

Leeds United boss Marco Bielsa is set to turn to teenage goalkeeper Illan Meslier ahead of Kamil Miazek should their number one choice Kiko Casilla be hit with a lengthy ban according to Football Insider.

Casilla has pleaded not guilty to a charge of racial abuse which has been alleged by Charlton Athletic’s Jonathan Leko but should the decision go against him, he could find himself suspended for 12 matches.

Bielsa is reportedly braced for losing his number one goalkeeper for an extended period of time and is expected to call upon French loanee Meslier.

Meslier was overlooked for a place on the Leeds bench for six consecutive Championship matches as Miazek was chosen ahead of him from late September to the end of last month.

However, in their 2-0 victory over QPR, Bielsa opted to have Meslier on the bench as the identity of his number two appears to have changed.

Leeds are in action this weekend against Blackburn Rovers and Casilla will play with the decision over the charge not being made until the international break.

Bielsa is then expected to bring in Meslier for Casilla who he believes has the more experience and better all-round game to replace the Spaniard.

The Argentine boss thinks that the Frenchman will be more able to cope with the fierce Elland Road spotlight as well as the playing style that sees the team build from the back and play a neat style of football.

Should Leeds lose Casilla it will undoubtedly be a huge miss for them with the Whites having the best defence in the division and losing their mainstay goalkeeper will certainly not be the ideal scenario.
