West Ham United dismiss claims of a ‘swap deal’ with West Brom

A source close to West Ham United have dismissed claims of a swap deal with West Bromwich Albion in January involving Grady Diangana and Nathan Holland.

Claret & Hugh have rubbished suggestions that Holland could depart for the Hawthorns with Diangana returning to the London Stadium to provide competition in attacking areas with the Hammers having struggled in front of goal so far this season.

Diangana has been in fine form for the Baggies since moving to the Hawthorns on loan in the summer. He has racked up four goals and five assists in 13 Championship appearances so far and has seen his reputation enhanced with a string of impressive performances.

Whilst at West Ham, Pellegrini has struggled to get the best out of his forward players and with Michail Antonio out with a long term injury he may decide to recall the England youth international.

West Brom boss Slaven Bilic is a huge admirer of Diangana and has said: “Obviously I know Grady but not in the amount that some people think. He trained with us when I was at West Ham but he was very young and I think even with David Moyes he didn’t play.”

“He emerged last season with Pellegrini. When somebody plays 17 games in the Premier League and they had Anderson, Antonio, Snodgrass and Yarmolenko, who got injured, that helped him, they are top quality players.”

“He got minutes there and started. I tried a few times, in the beginning of the summer, but Manuel wasn’t ready. They got Fornals in and Yarmolenko came back from injury, so they had options. It was a no brainer for us.”

The Baggies will be desperately hoping they can retain the winger with him having been hugely influential in firing them to the top of the Championship table.

It appears that the swap deal won’t be an option however Holland is yet to play a single Premier League game and doesn’t have the affiliation with West Brom that Diangana now does therefore it may not appeal to the Championship side in any case.
