After his transfer from Real Madrid, first impressions of Kiko Casilla were mixed, to say the least. That European tendency to punch clear, rather than come through a crowd to claim, was plain for all to see. He was the archetypal Bielsa keeper though, comfortable with the ball at his feet and willing to play out quickly.
Alongside rash decision-making and wild cavalry charges out of his area, there were the above flaws in his goalkeeping mechanics. Yet, this season, all these weaknesses have been seemingly erased/diluted and have been replaced by a growing consistency. Casilla has kept seven clean sheets in 14 games so far. It is form that has helped create a strong foundation for the Whites encouraging start this season.
According to the Daily Mail though, this could all be about to come to a crashing end with bad news attached to the culmination of the FA’s investigation into allegations made against him during the recent game against Charlton Athletic.
United’s #1has been the subject of an FA investigation for alleged comments directed at Charlton Athletic’s Jonathan Leko with these allegations pointing at comments of a racial slur. The disciplinary committee has already met and the Mail’s Adrian Kajumba says that it will be bad news for Leeds United fans when the official decision is announced on Wednesday.
Mail reporter Kajumba states in his article that Casilla is “set to be hit with a ban of between eight and 12 matches” and that length of the ban could seriously derail Leeds United’s promotion charge. As it stands, what with Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s transfer to Burnley, United only have the relatively inexperienced duo of Kamil Miazek and Ilhan Meslier.
Since it broke late last night, it has been a topic of conversation across social media amongst Whites fans. Here’s how some of them have reacted on Twitter to the news which could derail United’s promotion charge.
Casilla facing lengthy FA ban – Leeds United fans comments
‘The FA spoke to both players and called in lip readers and Spanish interpreters in their attempt to uncover full details of the flashpoint. The evidence against Casilla is understood to be strong’
Leeds should sack Casilla if he’s guilty. It’s not acceptable at all.

Kiko Casilla shouldn't play for the club again. Zero tolerance.

Reports in the Daily Mail of an 8-12 game ban for Kiko Casilla.
If he’s guilty of racially abusing a player, he cannot be defended and that punishment is the least he deserves.

Terry banned 4 games for racism, Suarez 8, Suarez 10 game ban for biting, Kiko Casilla will get how long for alleged slur? Talk of 12 games!Football league is corrupt! Lufc

Kiko casilla debate.
If there is clear evidence of racism then ship him out no place in football or #lufc. If it's his word against another and no witnesses then it's bullshit and can't be proven either way and isn't fair on the accused as they always receive a ban

In reality, across Twitter, it is a mixed bag of comments from Leeds United fans. The largest proportion of comments from them sway towards the ‘if guilty, he should never appear in a Leeds shirt again’ camp. There’s very little sympathy for Casilla in the face of what he’s been accused of.
However, many Whites are pointing out what they see as bias in the possible duration of ban handed out to the former Real Madrid man. Here they are citing instances where players from other clubs, accused and found guilty of racism, have received bans of a lesser duration.
