Preston goalkeeper attracting interest from Scottish Premier League giants Rangers

Preston goalkeeper Declan Rudd is being touted for a potential January move to Scottish Premier League giants Rangers according to Football Insider.

Rudd has emerged as a key player for Preston this season helping guide them to second in the Championship table and he is now on the radar of a number of SPL clubs.

Rangers are looking to boost their squad in January and are identifying the 28-year-old as one of their possible targets.

Rudd’s contract at Preston expires next summer and Rangers could try and sign him for a bargain fee in the winter transfer window or agree a deal to sign him in the summer on a free contract.

Current number one goalkeeper at Ibrox, Allan McGregor is 38-years-old and their backup keeper Foderingham is out of contract next summer, so manager Steven Gerrard is weighing up his options.

The Preston keeper is fast becoming one of the best shot stoppers in the division and is attracting interest from a host of top flight clubs in both Scotland and England.

He has been an ever-present for Preston in the Championship this term and has been instrumental in helping them to second spot in the division.

Rudd began his career at Norwich and also enjoyed a spell at Charlton before making a permanent move to Deepdale in 2017 and has kept an impressive 43 clean sheets in 137 appearances for the Lilywhites.

Preston boss Alex Neil will be desperate to retain his number one goalkeeper as they look to continue pushing for promotion this season under his stewardship.
