Preston North End tie forward down to new contract

Preston North End have confirmed on their official club website that forward Billy Bodin has put pen to paper on a contract extension, keeping him at Deepdale until the summer of 2021.

Preston North End forward Billy Bodin has put any worries about his immediate future with the Championship club to bed, with it being confirmed on Monday evening that the 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at Deepdale until the summer of 2021.

Bodin’s contract was set to run out in the summer of 2020, making him susceptible to approaches from other clubs in the January transfer window. Now, the worries have come to an end, with a new contract penned.

And Bodin himself is happy to have sorted, saying that he is now looking forward to pressing on and showing fans his best as Alex Neil’s side hope to embark on a promotion push. Speaking to the club website upon the announcement, Bodin said:

“It is something that me, my family and the club have been trying to get sorted for a while, so to get it done is great. On the pitch it is going fantastically well. The lads have been doing great this season and I can’t wait to try and get back in the team and focus on the league.
“I think I have only shown glimpses [of what he can do] and have picked up a few niggles this season, so now I want to try and show the fans what I can do and be as consistent as I can, either creating or scoring goals.”
Since joining Preston North End from Bristol Rovers in January 2018, Bodin has played 27 times for the club, scoring three goals and providing four assists in the process. So far this season, he has scored two goals in seven games and he will be hoping to add to that total as Preston hope to continue their strong start to the season.
