Sheffield Wednesday bring 18-year-old winger in on trial

According to a report from Sheffield Wednesday News, Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday have moved to bring in young winger Jesurun Uchegbulam in for a trial period, with a view to offering him a deal with the club.

While the transfer window has long closed and months remain until it opens once again, clubs are able to snap up youngsters to bring in to their youth ranks outside of the window should the opportunity present itself. And now, it has been reported that Sheffield Wednesday could look to bring an 18-year-old winger into their youth set-up.

It has been reported by Sheffield Wednesday News that young winger Jesurun Ochegbulam – currently contracted to Northern Premier League Division One North West side Mossley A.F.C – has started a trial with the club.

Ochegbulam is said to have featured for the club’s Under-23s side against Barnsley’s second-string side, reportedly impressing for Neil Thompson’s side despite the disappointing 3-0 scoreline. The 18-year-old is said to be one of the team’s better players on the day, regardless of the defeat.

Prior to joining the Owls on trial, the young Nigerian forward has been playing in English non-league. He spent time playing with Stockport Town before linking up with Mossley A.F.C’s youth set-up, eventually making his way into their senior team.

Said to be a pacy and exciting young forward, it will be interesting to see if his trial with Sheffield Wednesday leads to him penning a permanent contract with the club, or if he returns to Mossley once his trial comes to an end.
