West Brom capture the signing of young French striker – Fans Reaction

West Bromwich Albion announced yesterday that they had captured the signing of young French striker Cheikh Diaby on a contract until the end of the season as confirmed on their official website.

The 19-year-old forward has signed a deal which includes an option for a second year after impressing Slaven Bilic in a week’s training with the club.

Diaby arrives at The Hawthorns from Le Havre’s Academy after his contract expired with the French club this summer. The Frenchman was due to sign for Valencia but a deal fell through and he has now opted to join the Baggies instead.

Sporting and Technical Director Luke Dowling had his say on the deal: ”We have taken an opportunity to give a promising young striker the chance to develop with us. We will see what the future will bring.”

Diaby will initially join the club’s under 23’s and look to build up his fitness with some game time at youth level.

There have been some rumours of him being likened to a Thierry Henry type player which is the highest praise you can receive with the legendary former Arsenal man being one of the best players to have ever graced the Premier League stage.

West Brom supporters seemed delighted by the announcement of the arrival of Diaby and are even more confident that the club can win promotion this season with the addition of the youngster.

Here are how some West Brom fans reacted to the news of Diaby’s arrival:
