Derby County given ‘major blow’ with news of injury to key midfielder

Derby County have been given a ‘major blow’ with news of an injury to key midfielder Krystian Bielik who has sustained a muscular problem according to Polish sources.

Before Poland’s match against Latvia he had to leave the field and his thigh was then seen to be bandaged up and he then went immediately down the tunnel once the game began and a spokesman confirmed that it was a ‘muscle bruise’.

Derby County will be aiming to build upon their recent victory over Luton Town with a positive result against Charlton Athletic this weekend but they may now have to do so without one of their key players.

Manager, Phillip Cocu may have to cope without the services of Krystian Bielik as he now faces a race against time to be fit for the Addicks clash.

Bielik has been a hit with Rams’ supporters with his strong, physical presence in midfield since his arrival from Arsenal and he will no doubt he a huge miss should he be unable to feature.

There have been games where Bielik hasn’t hit top form however at just 21-years-old he has shown signs of real promise and potential in the Derby midfield.

The most obvious replacement for Bielik would be Graeme Shinnie who could feature against Charlton if Bielik isn’t fit enough to start. He has played in the defensive midfield position before and is the role he is most accustomed to playing.

Bielik has added real strength in depth to the squad this season and Cocu will be hoping he can call upon the Polish international sooner rather than later.
