Preston North End have made an impressive start to the Championship season and find themselves in 3rd position.
Alex Neil’s side have won six out of their opening 11 matches and look like they could be genuine Play-Offs contenders this term.
The Lilywhites are the top goal scorers in the league with 23 goals so far this term.
One of their attacking players, Tom Barkhuizen, has netted twice in the league and has discussed why his side have been so ruthless in front of goal, as per a report by the Lancashire Post: “The roles we have in the team and the understanding of them is so important.”
“When I scored against Barnsley the other week, it was Daniel Johnson who nicked the ball on the left. DJ knew exactly where I was going to be and was able to play me in. I knew that I would get a couple of seconds on the ball and there was no need to rush my shot.”
He admitted: “Probably in the gaffer’s first season here and also in the first part of last season, I would perhaps have rushed it.”
Barkhuizen, who has previously played for Blackpool and Morecambe, also mind he doesn’t mind where he plays: “I don’t have a preference, I just want to be starting games. If I play down the middle I will drift anyway so there’s a bit of everything to the role. Nuge (David Nugent) has played up there, Billy Bodin has, so too Sean Maguire.
