Coventry City defender comments on Leeds United, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest links

Coventry City defender Sam McCallum has said he is fully focused on his duties for the Sky Blues amid interest from clubs higher up the football pyramid.

The 19-year-old is catching the eye of clubs such as Leeds United, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest after an impressive start to the League One season.

McCallum joined Mark Robins’ side from non-league side Hearne Bay last August and he made his senior debut in an EFL Cup tie against Cheltenham Town last season before going onto make eight further appearances.

He has since become a regular starter this term and has played a key role in the Coventry side who are currently 7th in the third tier.

The youngster has commented on rumours linking him with a big move, as per a report by Coventry Live: “Playing in the Premier League is obviously still a dream. If I went all the way it’d be so big for me because I’m one of those millions of kids who have wanted it.”

“But at the moment I’m focusing on trying to get the starting position at Coventry and then see where it goes from there. I’m still settling in, but I’m more comfortable now.”

He added: “I’m more comfortable in the accommodation I’m in because I’m staying with [teammate] Morgan Williams, and we’re like brothers. It’s helping me with what I’m doing on the training ground and the pitch. I’m definitely living the dream.”
