Middlesbrough boss picks out two Birmingham players to watch out for

Middlesbrough face Birmingham City at St. Andrews on Friday night in front of the Sky Sports cameras, and Head Coach Jonathan Woodgate has been speaking to the press this morning.

Middlesbrough bounced back from their 4-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend with a solid midweek performance against Preston, in which both sides came away with a point after a 1-1 draw.

Boro have three games in six days, with Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday, Preston on Tuesday and Birmingham on Friday evening.

Head Coach Jonathan Woodgate spoke out about this week’s opposition, claiming despite Birmingham’s underwhelming start to the campaign, they will still cause problems for the Teessiders.

Woodgate also picked out two players for the Blues, claiming striker Lukas Jutkiewicz and midfielder Danny Crowley are the danger men, and his side should be wary of the pair if they feature on Friday night.

“Their start has been a bit inconsistent to be honest but they are still a threat” he admitted.

“They’ve got big Jutkiewicz up front who I know, I’ve played with before at Middlesbrough and he’s a handful.

“They got some good players, Danny Crowley playing in midfield, and they are a direct team so it is going to be a tough game.

“We need to stand up and be counted.”

Boro go to Birmingham with a good recent record against them. The North-East side are unbeaten in 10 games against the Blues, having not lost since March 2013; since then Middlesbrough have won six and drew four against Friday’s opponents.
