Huddersfield Town to consider loan move for goalkeeper

Huddersfield Town will consider loaning out goalkeeper Ryan Schofield further down the line.

The 19-year-old could leave the Terriers for more first team experience, as per a report by the Examiner Live.

Schofield, who is an England Under-20 international, has been used as their second choice so far this season and started in a Carabao Cup game against Lincoln City last month.

Huddersfield’s current goalkeeping options are Kamil Grabara, who is on loan from Liverpool, Joel Coleman and Schofield.

Their manager Danny Cowley has discussed the current situation, as per the Examiner Live: “Joel’s (Coleman) attitude and application has been exceptional, he is a really good guy who trains really, really hard and is fighting hard. If you look at the three keepers we have good competition now.”

Ryan is someone we know well, having watched a lot of Notts County during his loan spell at the back end of last season. He played against our Lincoln team in the Carabao Cup this season, of course, and I think Ryan has a real chance (in the game).”

He continued: “We also think he probably needs another stepping stone somewhere along the line, to get some more first-team experience – so that is something we will consider moving forward.”

Schofield joined Huddersfield in 2008 and has risen up through the youth ranks with the Yorkshire side. He has also had previous loan spells away in non-league at FC United of Manchester, Telford United and then in League Two at Notts County last season.
