Lee Johnson provides injury update on Bristol City duo

Speaking to Bristol Live, Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has said that centre-back Tomas Kalas could return to action after the international break, while midfielder Adam Nagy could make his comeback soon.

Bristol City centre-back Tomas Kalas has not played since the Robins’ 3-1 win over Hull City, missing four games since picking up an injury. Now, however, manager Lee Johnson has given an estimation of when he could return, saying he could come back after the international break later this month.

“He’s not close to [playing in] the Brentford match,” Johnson said.

“If everything goes to plan, Tomas will work really hard and be integrated in that second week of the international break, ready for the Luton game [on October 19, after the international break]. But we’ve got to be careful with that – we cannot risk that happening again. It would be soul destroying if it does.”

Johnson went on to discuss midfielder Nagy, who only managed two Championship appearances before getting injured. The Hungarian could make a comeback against Reading if all things go to plan, but he may not be back into the starting 11 until after the international break.

“Realistically I think it would be after [the international break for Adam Nagy to start for Bristol City again].

“But I’m not saying that we couldn’t make use of him in the Reading game. We’ll have to see what goes on and how the walking wounded are. There were a few heavy challenges in the Preston game and a few hobbling about so we’ll have to see.”.
