Preston North End defender previews Manchester City clash

Preston North End defender Ben Davies is excited to test himself against Manchester City tonight.

The Lilywhites take on the Premier League champions at Deepdale in the Carabao Cup.

Davies, who is 24 years-old, is under no illusion how difficult the tie will be but is excited for the learning curve.

The Cumbrian-born defender has risen up through the youth ranks with the Lancashire side and has played just under 100 games for them.

Davies has spoken about facing City later on, as per a report by the Lancashire Post: “It’s going to be good. Playing City is not a chance which comes around every day.”

Deepdale, Preston, England on 9 April 2019.

“It’s a night game at Deepdale; there’s going to be a full house and they are my favourite type of occasions. We are all excited for it and it’s going to be good test. We don’t know how it’s going to go. It’s going to be a new experience and a learning curve for us all because we haven’t tested ourselves against players of that calibre very often.”

He added: “It’s going to be good to see where we are at. It’s a big step up to the Premier League and will be interesting to see how far off we are. Hopefully it will be a good evening and I hope the supporters enjoy it.”

Preston have made a decent start to the season in the Championship and it will be interesting to see how they get on against Pep Guardiola’s men tonight.
