Grant McCann praises Hull City’s performance over Luton Town

Grant McCann was full of praise for his Hull City players yesterday after their 3-0 away win against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

Two goals from Kevin Stewart and Kamil Grosicki’s third is as many games meant the Tigers travelled back to the KCOM Stadium with their first away win of the season.

Hull have two home games coming up now against Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday and will be full of confidence.

McCann spoke to their official club website after the game yesterday: “I’m very, very pleased and I think we’ve been threatening a result like that for a few weeks now. In the first half I thought we were a little bit slow in terms of our pressing and we maybe offered a little bit too much respect and allowed Luton to have a lot of the play, although they didn’t really cause us many problems.”

In the second half we got against them more and our midfield three was more aggressive. We broke quicker with Jarrod (Bowen), Kamil (Grosicki) and Josh Magennis and, if truth be told, we could have scored six or seven in the end.”

He added: We’re really pleased for Kevin (Stewart) getting his first goals for about three years I think it is. He’s deserved a day like today. His performances in my time here have been top, top drawer. He’s got everything you need in that position – he can press, he can spot a pass, he can arrive in the box – everything you want in a midfield player”
