Oldham Athletic have appointed Dino Maamria as their new manager.
The 48-year-old has signed a one-and-a-half year contract with the League Two side, as announced by their official club website yesterday.
Maamria, who had spells in his playing days with the likes of Doncaster Rovers and Glentoran, has recently been sacked by Stevenage and has made an immediate return to the dugout.
He took over at Broadhall Way in March 2018 and guided Boro to safety in his first season at the club. His side then finished 10th in the fourth tier in the last campaign, a point outside the Play-Offs.
Maamria was sacked by Stevenage earlier last week after a poor start to this season.
He has spoken to Oldham’s website after his appointment: “I’m hugely excited to join such a historical football club. The vision and ambition of the Chairman was a big factor and the first priority is to stabilise and unite this great football club. I’m here to win football matches as well as improve, give confidence and belief to an already talented squad.”
Here is how the Oldham fans have reacted on Twitter-
Got a great feeling about Maamria as manager. Reckon we could even finish top 19 #oafc #lovethelemmys #barryisaballer

Regardless of opinions on the ownership of the club, you've got to admit, Maamria is a step up from Banide. Just annoying the move couldn't happen in May to get a proper Dino pre-season and transfer window. #OAFC

Welcome Dino! Hope you're not planning on:
Having any say in player signings,
Picking the starting 11,
Doing the team talk.
Hope you are planning on:
Being sacked after 2 months as a scapegoat for our owner's incompetence.#abdallahout— Mark Savage (@Savino78) September 19, 2019
Yep – don’t get comfy.

Maamria, being Tunisian, will probably speak both Arabic and French.
This may now well be our main criteria for appointing a manager over and above ability.
Unreal… #oafc— David (@Aldehulme) September 20, 2019
