Leeds United manager Marco Bielsa is preparing to unleash on-loan star Helder Costa after the international break according to Football Insider.
Costa has not started a league match since he became one of the biggest summer signing for the Whites in a loan-to-buy deal worth £15million.
However, Leeds have struggled a little more so far this season in terms of breaking down tough opposition defences such as in their recent game against Swansea City who frustrated them and eventually ran out 1-0 winners.
Manager, Marco Bielsa is convinced that Costa’s pace, directness and trickery can offer a new dimension to the side as they look to bounce back from their first defeat of the season when they take Barnsley at Oakwell on Sunday.
Bielsa believes that the Portuguese international can help solve his tactical riddle of how to penetrate teams defending deep in numbers especially for games at Elland Road.
Costa was held back initially by Bielsa because he felt the forward’s fitness and conditioning was not quite at the same level of the Leeds players who returned to pre-season training at the end of June and he also missed their pre-season tour as he stayed behind to work on his fitness.
The team which started the season began well and Bielsa didn’t feel the need to tinker with the side who won four and drew one of their opening five league games. However, following their first defeat, the manager wants to ensure competition in the squad as they aim for another push for promotion after narrowly missing out last season.
Costa has appeared as a substitute in all six of Leeds’ league games but is now looking to appear from the start to aid their cause in the quest for Premier League football.
