Former Hull City boss has not been offered Huddersfield Town job

According to a report from Examiner Live, Huddersfield Town have not made an offer to former Hull City manager Nigel Adkins to try and bring him in as the Terriers’ new manager after sacking Jan Siewert.

Over the course of the past few weeks, Huddersfield Town have been linked with a number of managers, with Nigel Adkins among those heavily linked with the role after he left fellow Championship side Hull City at the end of the season.

However, Examiner Live has now reported that Adkins – contrary to reports – has not been offered the job by the Terriers. With the international break now upon us, Huddersfield Town will be hoping to have a new manager in place before the next round of fixtures. Adkins had been tipped as one of the favourites for the role but the latest reports suggest otherwise.

Adkins is vastly experienced at Championship and Football League level and impressed under difficult circumstances while at Hull City. The 54-year-old started his managerial career with Scunthorpe United, who he managed in 198 games over the course of almost four years before being appointed as manager of Southampton in 2010.

Adkins helped Southampton climb from League One and into the Premier League in his time at St Mary’s and left in 2013, joining Reading shortly after. After leaving Reading in December 2014, Adkins moved on to Sheffield United and then Hull City.

Now, with the international break underway, it will be interesting to see if Huddersfield look to move for Adkins or if they look to other options.
