Burton Albion striker not distracted by transfer rumours

Burton Albion striker Liam Boyce says he doesn’t get distracted by possible transfer rumours.

The 28-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the Brewers and the club are hoping to keep hold of him after the end of the League One and Two, Scotland and European transfer deadline on Monday.

Boyce, who is a Northern Ireland international with 19 caps under his belt, has been in prolific form so far this season for Nigel Clough’s side having scored four goals in seven games.

He joined Burton in June 2017 from Ross County when they were in the Championship but suffered a knee injury in his first few months at the Pirelli Stadium which kept him out of action for the majority of his first year.

However, Boyce fought back and managed to get 14 goals in all competitions for the third tier outfit last season.

He has said he is fully focused on his work for Burton at the moment, as per a report by Derbyshire Live: “I don’t think about anything else, I just want to score goals. I obviously came here and got that injury, so I feel I need to repay the fans and score goals, that’s what I was brought here to do.”

The first season, I couldn’t really do that for a long spell. But hopefully I can keep scoring goals and start repaying the price they paid for me.”
