“He’s done great” – Luton Town boss provides latest on Hatters trainee

Speaking to Luton Today, Luton Town manager Graeme Jones has confirmed that free agent defender Donervon Daniels is still training with the club after his release from League One side Blackpool in the summer.

Former West Brom, Wigan Athletic and Blackpool defender Donervon Daniels has been training with Championship side Luton Town for the past week or so as he looks to earn himself a contract with the club. He is without a club at the moment and will be hoping to find a new one soon with the season already underway.

Speaking to Luton Today regarding Daniels, Hatters boss Graeme Jones has said that the defender is impressing at Kenilworth Road and they will continue to cast their eye over him.

“He’s done great Donervon.

“We’ve just given him a place to come and train, he’s someone who Gary Brabin knows well and maybe it will suit Donervon and it’ll suit us. We are just helping him out at the minute, but also having a look in the process.

“I think you always have to be open-minded,” Jones said when asked if the Hatters could look into the possibility of signing free agents.

“We haven’t got a priority in any position, but there are always one or two names who get thrown up. It’s good to have a look at Donervon at the minute because he’s in that category.”

Daniels made his breakthrough into senior football during his time with West Brom, coming through the Baggies’ youth ranks before heading out on loan to the likes of Tranmere Rovers, Gillingham, Blackpool and Aberdeen.

He left West Brom in 2015, heading to Wigan Athletic on a free transfer. During his time with Wigan he also had a loan stint with Rochdale before leaving to join Blackpool last summer, leaving the Tangerines after one season.
