Lee Bowyer undecided on future of Charlton Athletic trainee

Speaking to London News Online, Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has said that he will not yet be making a decision regarding the future of trainee Callum Harriott, who has been training with the club over the course of the past few weeks.

We reported here on The72 earlier this summer that Charlton Athletic had brought in Addicks academy graduate Callum Harriott on trial after he was released by fellow Championship side Reading.

Harriott has been training with his former club for some time now, but Lee Bowyer is yet to make a decision on his future, with no offer yet on the table. Bowyer, speaking to London News Online, has revealed that Harriott is injured as it stands.

“Not at the moment – he’s injured. I haven’t decided anything about him.”

Should he be offered a contract with Charlton, Harriott would come in to bring some further depth and competition to Bowyer’s attacking ranks.

During his first stint with Charlton Athletic, Harriott played 95 times in all competitions, netting 12 goals and providing four assists after coming through the club’s youth academy. He also spent time on loan at Colchester United, where he impressed with 11 assists and seven goals in 23 matches.

In his three years at Reading, Harriott played 29 times (four goals, two assists) before leaving the Madejski Stadium upon the expiry of his contract earlier this summer. Harriott will be hoping that he can earn himself a deal with the club and go on to help Lee Bowyer’s side continue their strong start to life in the Championship.
