Hull City’s best transfer business of the summer was keeping hold of star winger

Hull City had a busy summer transfer window in the end and managed to bring in 10 new signings.

The new tigers chief Grant McCann wasted no time in adding players to his squad and implementing his attacking style of play that he had at Doncaster Rovers last season.

Hull delved into the window to bring in Matt Ingram, Ryan Tafazolli, Josh Bowler, George Honeyman, Tom Eaves, Sean McLoughlin, Leonardo Da Silva Lopes, Callum Elder, Josh Magennis and Matthew Pennington.

However, despite the spree of new arrivals, the Tigers’ best bit of transfer business was keeping of winger Jarrod Bowen.

The Championship side have somehow managed to keep a winger who has scored a combined 37 goals from the wing over the past two seasons.

Anyone who has watched Bowen on a regular basis will know he is too good for this division and his quality showed in Hull’s 2-1 win over Reading yesterday where he scored and gained an assist.

You would struggle to name many players better than Bowen at scoring goals from the wing in the whole of the Football League and at the age of 22 he is only going to improve more.

Bowen may feel hard done by having seen the likes of Daniel James and Che Adams get Premier League moves from the second tier this summer, despite him scoring more goals over the past two years from midfield.

Nevertheless, despite being linked with teams such as Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Arsenal and Newcastle United over the past couple of months, Bowen hasn’t let speculation distract him and he has put his head down in pre-season and worked hard under McCann.

Despite being baffled he is still at the club, Hull fans can enjoy watching Bowen until January at least.
