Barnsley lodge club record bid for 19-year-old striker as Moore replacement

According to a report from Sky Sports News (transfer centre liveblog, 08:47, August 6th), Championship outfit Barnsley have made a move to try and bring in Legia Warsaw striker Sandro Kulenovic in a club-record deal, as Daniel Stendel looks to fill the gap left after Kieffer Moore departed to join Wigan Athletic.

With Kieffer Moore making a move away from Barnsley to link up with Wigan Athletic in a rumoured £3 million transfer, the Tykes are looking to bring in a replacement at Oakwell before the transfer window closes on Thursday evening.

After it was revealed that Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney was not for sale unless the club received big money, Barnsley have opted to move on to other striker targets. And now, it has been reported by Sky Sports News that one of their targets is Legia Warsaw’s Sandor Kulenovic.

Barnsley are rumoured to have made a club-record bid for the striker in an effort to get a deal over the line before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Kulenovic, 19, is a Croatian striker currently plying his trade in the Polish Ekstraklasa with Legia Warsaw, where he has made his breakthrough into senior football after initially joining from Dinamo Zagreb in summer 2016. In total, Kulenovic has played 30 times for the Polish club’s senior side after providing his goalscoring prowess in the youth sides.

Standing at 191cm, Kulenovic is a handful in the air and proves difficult to deal with for opposition strikers, using his physicality to his advantage – much like Kieffer Moore.

With the transfer window closing on Thursday, Barnsley will be hoping a deal can progress quickly to bring Kulenovic in before the window slams shut.
