Bristol City are ahead of fellow Championship side Cardiff City in the race to sign Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah on loan.
The youngster could leave the Premier League side on loan before the transfer deadline on Thursday to gain some first team experience, according to a report by Wales Online.
Bristol City are keen on bringing in a forward before the window slams shut this week and have been linked with Nketiah throughout the summer. The Robins lost 3-1 at home to Leeds United yesterday and want to bolster their squad.
Lee Johnson’s side will have to face competition from Cardiff City for his signature though with the Bluebirds also looking to bring in another striker.
Nketiah started his career at Chelsea but was released in 2015 so joined their London rivals Arsenal. He has since risen through the youth ranks at the Emirates Stadium. He has represented England at U18, U19, U20 and U21 levels so far.
He made his debut for the Gunners’ senior side in September 2017 when he came on as an 89th substitute in a Europa League game against BATE Borisov.
He then made his next appearance in a League Cup tie against Norwich City a month later and scored twice to send Arsenal into the next round. He has since played in 13 more games for the Gunners but hasn’t added to his goal tally.
Could a loan move to the Championship beckon for him this week?
