Leeds United Roofe sale on the brink – particulars being sorted

Leeds United fans will be quick to tell you that the Whites can go from brilliance to ‘typical Leeds’ in the flicker of an eye. Today was a ‘typical Leeds’ day.

Fans were already prepared for goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell  to leave for Premier League Burnley. However, nobody expected Leeds United to go rogue and sell Kemar Roofe.

Yet, that’s what it looked like was happening. It’s not a fait accompli, but it is inching its way there. Leeds are in a vulnerable position insomuch as Roofe is in the final year of his current deal, meaning that he can have another season like last season and simply walk away from Elland Road on a free.

However, news that Belgian top-tier side Anderlecht were interested in Kemar Roofe was definitely the most Leeds thing that could happen just days before the Whites face Bristol City to open their centenary campaign.

15 goals is what Kemar Roofe brought to the table last season for Leeds United. 15 goals that led Leeds United to the brink of promotion. Such goals come at a premium and that premium is said to be costing Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht in the region of £7million.

It’s a deal that Het Laast Nieuws correspondent Kristof Terreur (above) believe is entering its endgame. Now it’s just a case of particulars and fineries that need completing in order to bring this signing over the line.

£7million is a more than a fair price for Roofe bearing in mind the situation that he is in regarding the last year of his contract. It looks like it’s a deal ready to be made. It’s just down to those particulars now.
