It is well known that Leeds United are in the market for reinforcements this summer, as they go into a new campaign that many believe them to be the favourites to be tog dog in. Given the perceived weaknesses at the back, they will be seeking a central defender.
Leeds have been linked with lot’s of players, as is customary, this summer, many that seem far-fetched and many that may have credence. One such link is one that most Leeds fans would never have imagined.
Former Tottenham and Scottish international Alan Hutton was released by Aston Villa this summer and has been linked with moves to Leeds, Hull, Rangers, Wigan and Nottingham Forest in recent days, but today it is reported that he is in talks with a Championship club.
Football Insider have this morning confirmed that Hutton (34) has entered talks with Middlesbrough in his search for a new club and with Jonathan Woodgate in the market for defensive reinforcements himself, a move could indeed be imminent.
Hutton has bags of experience on both the Premier League and Championship stage but also in an international capacity for Scotland, so he could bring much needed experience to the North East club.
Regarding Leeds United’s interest, I don’t really think Hutton is a player who Marcelo Bielsa would be interest in moving for, with his age being the main issue, but also as it is documented that Bielsa is already happy with his squad, meaning any such move for cover within the squad may be limited.
Would Leeds fans be interested in a player like Alan Hutton?
