Presenting the inside scoop on the latest Football League news

LUFC- Phillips going nowhere, Bamford, Harrison and White to be huge- successful season ahead, in my opinion.

There is many a Leeds United fan that is bamboozled by the goings-on this summer, but in my opinion, there is lot’s to be excited about for The Whites ahead of the new campaign.

Reports of Kalvin Phillips wanting out of West Yorkshire appears to be far from true, Kemar Roofe contract talks going well, Bailey Peacock-Farrell leaving following an ill-timed outburst following international duty, Pontus Jansson departing due to his disruptive influence… all business that points towards a better togetherness and an improved morale amongst the squad. These are hugely important for a club and it’s fans that are deeply in need of a return to the top flight.

Leeds United midfielder Helder Costa (17) scores a goal and celebrates with Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips (2) to make the score 1-1 during the Pre-Season Friendly match between Guiseley and Leeds United at Nethermoor Park, Guiseley, United Kingdom on 11 July 2019.

I believe that Phillips and Roofe will both sign new deals at Leeds, with that continuity adding to their strengths for next season.

Also, the first team signings that Leeds have made, Helder Costa, Jack Harrison and Ben White could turn out to be the icing on the cake for Leeds United.

While some Leeds fans believe that White is not the answer to a Pontus Jansson shaped hole in the heart of the defence, however, with his excellent feet and intelligent ball playing and decision making, he could well be a perfect Marcelo Bielsa player… further evidence of his attributes are highlighted in this brilliant piece by Twitter handle LUFC Blog

There is no doubting the players attributes, only a question as to whether he can bring the right level of performance for The Championship.

Patrick Bamford will, in my opinion, be a big player for Leeds this season also, with a point to prove and a chip on his shoulder, I believe he will prove a few people wrong once he breaks the deadlock.

Regarding Harrison, he already has the fans attention following an excellent pre-season so far, so big things are expected.

The same goes for Costa, who’s pedigree in this division is unquestionable, following his promotion season with Wolves in 2016/17… and LUFC Blogs also did a piece in him earlier in July…

So why all the pessimism on West Yorkshire? Maybe the Leeds fans are happier being negative or maybe they know something that the bookies and opposing teams don’t… or maybe it is a safety mode, preparing for the worst in the case of hope being raised and dashed, much like last season.

I for one think that there are special things to come from Leeds United next season, I wonder if i get many fans agreeing with me?
