Five players Sunderland could sign to replace George Honeyman

Sunderland captain is closing in on a move to Championship side Hull City, as reported by The72 earlier today. Here are five players the Black Cats could sign to replace him-

Marcus Maddison, Peterborough United- He would be the ideal signing for the North-East side and is the type of player their fans want. He is proven in League One and they would have to put their hands in their pockets to bring him to the Stadium of Light.

George Thorne, Derby County- The 26-year-old has had his injury problems over the past couple of seasons and could leave the Rams on loan again next season having spent the second-half of the last campaign at Luton Town. Is he worth a punt for Sunderland?

Aaron Tshibola, Aston Villa- He has fallen out-of-favour at Aston Villa and is available after spent the past season-and-a-half at Kilmarnock. The Midlands side paid £5 million to sign him in 2016 from Reading.

John Lundstram- His chances of getting into Sheffield United’s side in the Premier League are slim this season. The former Everton and Oxford United man would do a job in the middle of the park for Sunderland.
