Blackpool poised to beat Ipswich Town to signing of Blackburn Rovers striker

Blackpool are set to boost their attacking options by landing Blackburn Rovers striker Joe Nuttall.

The 22-year-old is closing in on a move to Bloomfield Road, as per a report by Lancashire Live.

The Tangerines have seen off late competition from League One rivals Ipswich Town for his signature.

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray has said, as per Lancashire Live: “My phone has been ringing practically daily for Joe. I’m not sure how far down the line we are, but I’m fairly sure there will be an announcement soon on his future.”

Nuttall, who is from Bury, is not a first team regular for Rovers but was part of Tony Mowbray’s side that won promotion from the third tier in 2018.

He started his career at Manchester City and rose up through the youth ranks at the Etihad Stadium. He never made a senior appearance for the Premier League giants and left in 2015 to join Scottish Premiership outfit Aberdeen.

Nuttall played four times for the Dons and had loan spells at Stranraer and Dumbarton before he was released in 2017.

He went on trial to Blackburn and they decided to offer him a contract two years. He could now be on the move again with Blackpool expected to conclude the deal.

Simon Grayson’s side are looking forward to the start of the season and face Bristol Rovers at home on Saturday.
