Arsenal man rejects Leeds United and Blackburn rovers.

News of Leeds United’s second choice goalkeeper, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, being very close to sealing a switch from Elland Road to Burnley broke yesterday, with the 22-year-old Northern Ireland international set to undergo a medical at Turf Moor today.

This, along with the slightly unstable manor of Kiko Casilla’s stance at the West Yorkshire club, means that Leeds United could find themselves reliant upon academy goalkeeper, Kamil Miazek, should they end up losing both senior players.

Following yesterdays news regarding Peacock-Farrell, it is believed that the club are now chasing a replacement ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, one of their targets is believed to be Emi Martinex (26) of Premier League Arsenal, but Leeds are not the only club to be chasing the Argentinian stopper.

Blackburn Rovers are also in the market for a goalkeeper, with Martinez on their wish list, but it appears that the player is going nowhere.

Martinez, who joined The Gunners in 2010, has rejected the opportunity to sign for either Championship club, stating the reason as a desire to fight for the number one shirt at The Emirates.

The report in The Daily Cannon reveals the wishes of Martinez, who has played his part in Arsenal’s pre-season campaign, playing the full ninety minutes in the clubs penultimate friendly of the summer in a victory over French side, Angers on Wednesday night.

The news will come as a blow, especially to Leeds fans, as they see their defensive line considerably weakened before the start of the season already, so to lose a goalkeeper without replacement could be detrimental to their promotion credentials.

So it appears the two clubs will have to cast their line elsewhere in the search for a back-up stopper.
