Bristol City defender Webster likely to depart Ashton Gate

After just one season with the Robins, Adam Webster has impressed and was voted the player of the season by the fans last year. Therefore interest has increased and mainly coming from the Premier League.

Webster has been linked with a move to the Premier League after an impressive first season with Bristol City. Brighton and Hove Albion have emerged as front runners to sign the centre half. However, for this move to take place many others have to happen as well. Harry Maguire, has to complete a move to Manchester United, freeing up a centre back spot at Leicester City. Then, Lewis Dunk has been linked with a move to Leicester from Brighton meaning they would need another centre back being Webster.

On the Bristol Live website Tomas Kalas, Webster’sdefensive partner last year, said " It would be a massive loss but at the end of the day its his career and he needs to, firstly, look after himself" The Czech international continued to say, "Obviously I would love to play alongside him but that doesn't mean I can only play with him"

He also said, “I believe I can make a partnership with anyone but if I could prefer anyone at the moment that would be Adam, based on last season and how well it was going.” He also spoke about the actual move itself “But it is his chance to get a big shot. If he is going to get it, I don’t know, that is not my business to talk about but, obviously, to answer the question, I’d love him to stay but understand the situation he is in and it’s not easy to get your head around.”

Brighton have supposedly bid £20 million for Webster with £5 million in extra add ons.

What’re your thoughts on this transfer rumour? Being a Bristol City fan I would love for Webster to stay, however, I don’t think £25 million is something that our club can turn down and I personally think he will get a chance at Brighton.
