Port Vale bring former Sunderland, Leicester City and Yeovil Town goalkeeper to Vale Park

Port Vale bring former Sunderland, Leicester City and Yeovil Town goalkeeper Jonny Maddison to Vale Park on a one-year deal, confirmed by the club website.

League Two side Port Vale have signed former Sunderland, Leicester City and Yeovil Town goalkeeper Jonny Maddison on a one-year deal.

Most recently, the goalkeeper spent two-years with Yeovil Town and made 22 appearances in his time with the club.

Port Vale manager John Askey spoke to the club website about the signing of Jonny Maddison: “He’s come in and done quite well. He’s fitted in with the rest of the lads and in the games he’s done OK making one or two good saves and in training he’s looked good.

“Jonny’s got a great attitude and it’s up to him now to try and push Scott Brown. We got to see more of him in Scotland on a day to day basis and like I said he fitted in well.

“He’s a good size, a good shot stopper, he’s got one or two things he needs to work on but working with Ronnie Sinclair I’m sure it’ll improve him.”

Last week, Port Vale signed former Charlton, Grimsby Town and Yeovil Town winger Rhys Browne after a successful trial with the club.

Also, Port Vale signed Callum Evans from Macclesfield Town on a one-year deal as Askey looks to bolster his squad.

Askey told BBC Sport: “I’ve had Callum before, he’s got a decent pedigree.

“He’s from Bristol but he was at Manchester United as a youngster. He played for me when we got promoted and he’s only 23 so there’s more to come from him.”
